Alongside the return of its Hour of Code classes, Apple is launching an all-new Entrepreneur Camp that is focused on creating new opportunities based on app-driven businesses owned or led by women. A first-of-its-kind, Apple is looking to aid app-driven businesses who are founded, co-founded or led by women that have a working app or prototype. The program will begin in January of 2019, but will begin accepting applications now....

Apple last month revealed its 2020 Apple Music award winners, and it has been uploading extended videos of each of the artists to its official YouTube channel over the past few days … The winning artists give their reactions to winning, followed by performances of a number of their tracks. The latest addition is a 13-minute video of Lil Baby, talking about his home town before performances of Humble, Low Down, Social Distancing, Get Money, Gang Signs, and Solid....

Apple this week appears to have started uploading full “replays” of Beats 1 shows to its Connect social network. Apple Music hosts including Zane Lowe, Julie Adenuga, and Ebro Darden have all shared full, unedited replays of their shows on their respective Connect pages over the past two days. This process appears to have started yesterday, without any official announcement by Apple. Prior to uploading full replays, each host would share a playlist with every song that was played during their show....

After several months of rumors, Apple today has officially unveiled its next-generation Apple Watch with support for LTE connectivity. The announcement was made on stage during the company’s special event today by CFO Jeff Williams following a moving video of Apple Watch users sharing their stories. The new model is called Apple Watch Series 3…. Tim Cook touted that Apple Watch is now the number one watch in the world, overtaking previous leader Rolex....

Find My iPhone is a great feature to have if you’ve ever realised you’ve misplaced your iPhone. You can not only track the device, but also post a message on the Lock screen asking a finder to contact you … But none of that helps if you haven’t yet realized your phone is missing. That’s the scenario Apple aims to cover in a new patent granted today. Anyone finding the phone would see an option to call a contact, which would be someone you’ve chosen as the person you’d like to be notified if someone finds your device....

Apple has published some of the videos from today’s keynote event on YouTube for replay, including the first TV spot for the iPhone 6s and the introduction video presenting 3D Touch on the new phone. 12/23: Apple has issued a statement explaining the issue: “We are aware of an issue that may impact the ability for users to share the Home within the Home app. A fix will be available soon. In the meantime, we’ve temporarily removed the option to upgrade to the new Home architecture. Users who have already upgraded will not be impacted.“ Original story below. In addition to the incoming OS X Mavericks Mail Update that we reported on previously, sources say that Apple is readying a slew of performance and bug fix updates for several other OS X Mavericks applications. According to the updates seeded today to Apple employees, Apple is preparing updates for iBooks, Safari, and the Remote Desktop Client apps: For iBooks, Apple says that the new version (1.0.1) “includes bug fixes and improvements to performance and stability....

Apple has just released iOS 13.6.1 and iPadOS 13.6.1 for all users, just one month after the release of iOS 13.6. The update fixes some known issues related to the Exposure Notifications and another one that could make the displays exhibit a green tint. iOS 13.6 was released in July with Car Key, a digital key that will work for locking, unlocking, and starting supported vehicles. The update also introduced Apple News+ Audio with professionally narrated audio stories curated from the Apple News team to your device....

In addition to iOS 8.4 and OS X 10.10.4, Apple has released a new version of iTunes for Mac that brings Apple Music to the desktop. The update also supports streaming Apple’s new Beats 1 24/7 live radio station and includes a refreshed icon. In addition to the My Music, Playlists, Radio, and iTunes Store tabs under Music on iTunes, the new update also adds Apple Music’s new For You section for viewing music similar to your taste, a New section for promoting newly released material, and a Connect tab for following artist activity including sound clips, videos, and photos shared....

Apple has released the third iOS 10.3 public beta for testing on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 10.3.2 public beta 3 follows one day after the third developer version of the upcoming software update. Apple has also released the third public beta version of macOS 10.12.5. Apple’s public beta program is free to participate in unlike its paid developer program. iOS 10.3.2 will be released to everyone in the future, and the public beta allows more users to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s finalized....

At first, it appeared the iOS 14.5 public beta arrived without the watchOS 7.4 this afternoon. However, the latest watchOS beta is now available, it’s just slightly hidden as it only shows up after first upgrading to iOS 14.5. watchOS 7.4 brings the handy Apple Watch Unlock feature for iPhone when wearing a mask. watchOS 7.4 public beta 1 arrives after the developer beta was seeded this past Monday. Funny enough, while we didn’t see it as available alongside iOS 14....

The iPhone XR isn’t even out yet, but supply chain sources are claiming that Apple is ramping up manufacturing orders for the device in anticipation of higher sales than it initially forecast … Digitimes says that shipments of the cheaper of the three new iPhone models is expected to ramp up to 20M units in October, and that Apple is adjusting its production mix into December. As the iPhone XR isn’t yet available for pre-order, Apple won’t have any model-specific data – but will know how iPhone XS and XS Max pre-orders are going, and will be able to extrapolate from that likely demand for the XR....

Update: Some customers report being able to purchase the new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar at some locations as of Wedneday, November 15th. Other stores will officially start selling stock of the new device tomorrow, as detailed in our original story below. The new MacBook Pro with Touch Bar will be available at Apple retail stores later this week alongside demo units for customers to try, according to sources familiar with Apple’s plans....

Apple today launched a new page on its official website that highlights carrier offers for customers who are buying a new iPhone 12 model. The company shows some of the trade-in deals currently available from US carriers for iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max. Called “iPhone Carrier Offers,” the new page found within the existing iPhone page on Apple’s website features deals from AT&T, T-Mobile/Sprint, and Verizon....

You can almost taste the sarcasm in the press statement from Apple: JCPenny also released a statement with some interesting information: As JCP is up 12% on the hiring news, Johnson just made $6M on his first day. Not bad, but he’s still just went from the second biggest company in the world where he’d pull in double digit million dollar bonuses to a $7B company that sells unremarkable clothes....

Only a small number of employees have so far moved into the new Apple Park campus, but its presence has already created a boom in the number of property developments, reports the New York Times. Prices of existing properties are said to have doubled in price since 2011. Local businesses are also gearing up for an anticipated boost in demand … The flurry of new developments is benefiting both Cupertino and neighbouring Sunnyvale, says the NYT....

Apple this evening has announced a $300 million fund for investing in renewable energy projects in China. As the company announced in a press release, The China Clean Energy Fund is a partnership between Apple and several of its suppliers to produce at least 1 gigawatt of energy through renewable means… Apple says that it and 10 initial suppliers will jointly invest $300 million over four years to develop clean energy projects....

A new patent unearthed today shows how Apple is working to make improvements Siri and its core capabilities. Apple originally filed for the patent in 2016, but it was just made public today Essentially, this patent covers how Siri could detect when a user is whispering and subsequently “whisper” all of its replies…..
