The report claims that Apple has been looking to hire both actors and directors to create production divisions that would produce exclusive long-form content in-house. Apple recently uploaded two new Apple Music advertisements to its U.K. YouTube channel. Apple Pay has been available in Japan since 2016. Now, Visa has announced its branded cards now work with Apple Pay in the country as well. Customers with Visa’s credit and debit cards issued by Aplus, Credit Saison, JACCS, Mitsui Sumitomo Bank Card, NTT DoCoMo, Rakuten, and SMBC Finance Service are now able to add their card to their Wallet on iPhone and Apple Watch. Visa will also easily let its customers charge their Apple Pay Suica or PASMO cards anytime and anywhere to use trains, buses, taxis, and more....

Apple has been upgrading its Podcasts platform as the iOS 15.5 RC revealed a new option to limit episodes stored on your devices as well as changes arriving to help podcasters better present the value of annual subscriptions. Now Apple Podcasts has announced its new “Delegated Delivery” service that will allow creators to “upload, manage, and distribute their premium audio through participating third-party hosting providers.” Apple announced the news in a press release today sharing details on the new option for podcasters along with a launch date of this fall....

Apple today published its latest transparency report, detailing the requests it received from governments and private parties for customer data. For the first time, the report also includes information about requests Apple received to remove apps from its App Store. As detailed by TechCrunch, Apple says that it received 80 requests from 11 countries to remove 634 applications from the App Store. These were localized requests, with governments requesting the removal of applications only in their country....

Last fall we learned about a flaw with the Mail app in macOS that would prevent encrypted emails from being encrypted. With the public release of macOS 10.15.3 last week, the researcher who discovered the bug says it has been fixed. Apple IT specialist Bob Gendler discovered the vulnerability last summer and last fall Apple said that it would fix the bug in a future update. The flaw had to do with how Mail was saving database files that were being used by Siri which were actually unencrypted, even for encrypted emails....

Apple has quietly improved the MagSafe power adapter it ships with portable Macs, introducing the same kind of adapter design it has until now only made available with the MacBook Air and, more recently, with the unibody polycarbonte MacBooks. Hidden in among its recent upgrades to its portable line-up, Apple quietly updated MagSafe tips for the 85 Watt adapters which come with the 15 and 17-inch MacBooks, and the 65 Watt versions for the 13-inch MacBook and MacBook Pro....

According to a new report from Deadline this evening, Apple has reached a deal with Paramount to help finance Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon adaptation. Under the deal, Paramount would still distribute the film. The deal has also been corroborated by the Wall Street Journal. Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio are set to play the lead roles in the film alongside Robert Di Niro. Paramount originally acquired the project, though it recently allowed it to be shopped around as the studio grew weary of the $180 to $200 million price tag....

The Electronic Frontier Foundation has today published its rankings of technology companies regarding how they handle user data. Apple this year has received praise from the EFF for how transparent it is when it comes to handling requests form government agencies and standing up for user rights and privacy. On the EFF’s ranking scale, Apple received five out of five stars, as did Dropbox. Google, however, received three stars out of five, while Facebook received four stars....

Apple is releasing a new iOS 13 developer build today. The release comes just under one week since the last round of iOS 13 beta releases. Interestingly, Apple has labeled this week’s release as iOS 13.1 developer beta, suggesting that beta testing iOS 13 has ended. watchOS 6 developer beta 9 is available and labeled as such. Apple’s public beta builds should follow at a later date after the latest developer beta has been tested in the wild....

Apple has released the first public beta version of iOS 10.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Previously only available to registered developers for testing, iOS 10.2 includes several upcoming features like Unicode 9.0 emoji, iPhone 7 wallpapers, and new camera features. Apple’s public beta program is free to participate in unlike its paid developer program. iOS 10.2 will be released to everyone in the future, and the public beta allows more users to test pre-release versions of the software update before it’s finalized....

What’s New in the iOS 11.2.5 Update and Should You Upgrade? The previous 11.2.2 release focused primarily on fixing the CPU vulnerability called Spectre. Version 11.2.5 is more of a feature prep for the upcoming HomePod stereo, along with bug fixes for Mail, Messages, and CarPlay. Users can now ask Siri to play news from sources such as CNN, NPR or Fox News but only for the US, UK, and Australia at this time....

Just as Apple announced at its iPad & Mac event last Thursday, iOS 8.1 is now publicly available with new features including Apple Pay, iCloud Photo Library, and additional Continuity features. Apple Pay is available for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users for making payments for purchases with the new iPhone rather than a physical credit card in supported retail stores and apps; iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 users will be able to use Apple Pay within supported apps as well....

The update includes stability fixes and performance enhancements for the recent iOS 9 release, which left many users stuck with problems using their phones. The update also includes a variety of brand-new emoji characters. Users running iOS 9.1 beta 1 can update directly through Software Update panel in the stock Settings app, while users currently running a different version of iOS can download the update from Apple’s developer center....
