Apple has some good news for all of the Apple Music users on Android. The company has just released an update to Apple Music in the Google Play Store that allows users to download songs to an SD card so that they may store even more music for offline listening. Showcasing one of Android’s greatest strengths in the storage space is definitely an interesting move by Apple. This potentially allows users to hold more music than the current iPhones’ maximum storage size of 128GB....

Apple Music has received a few updates including a useful new ‘Coming Soon’ section that brings along expected album release dates and a pre-add feature. On Mac, Artist profiles are getting a refreshed look. First up is a handy featured section for soon to be released albums. Apple has published a behind-the-scenes look at Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 studio where Apple Music’s streaming radio station is broadcasted … on Snapchat of all places. Apple snatched up the ‘applemusic’ username on Snapchat earlier this summer, and now the company is using the account to promote its subscription music service and Zane Lowe’s radio show with short videos of the DJ broadcasting. The first Snapchat Story features Apple Music branding over scenes from Apple’s recent iPhone marketing material including a drone-flyover beach clip and the skatepark scene Apple’s “Why iPhone” web page....

The COVID-19 virus continues to spread across the United States and other countries, and Apple News is collecting important stories and resources to inform and prepare readers for the coronavirus. A number of additional banks and credit unions across the United States have now turned on support for Apple Pay including Synchrony Bank which backs Walmart and other retail credit cards, NASA Federal Credit Union, and many more. Apple last week released a new beta firmware for Studio Display, which the company later confirmed addresses some of the webcam quality issues. With the release of macOS 12.4 beta 3 earlier today, Apple also made the second beta of Studio Display Firmware 15.5 available to developers – and it seems to improve the camera a bit more. Since the Studio Display was released, consumers have been really upset about the low quality of its built-in front camera....

iOS 14.5 is arriving to the public next week with a host of new features and changes and a major one is the new App Tracking Transparency. Today Apple has shared a reminder with developers to have ATT requirements met for apps by April 26. Apple hasn’t officially announced when the ATT feature will show up for users other than “early spring.” However, it’s expected to get turned on with iOS 14....

Apple is rolling out the fourth macOS 10.12.4 beta for developer testing. The upcoming version of macOS Sierra is the first to bring Night Shift to the Mac. macOS Sierra 10.12.4 beta is currently only available to developers and public beta testers. Public beta versions usually come a few days after developer versions if not the same day. macOS 10.12.4 beta also includes changes to Siri, Dictation, and Apple’s PDF API:...

Apple has launched a new Apple Wallet webpage highlighting the growing number of features in the Wallet app on iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple’s WWDC is set for June 4. Now, the company has begun notifying scholarship applicants of their award status. While the typical ticket price is $1599, WWDC scholarship winners receive free access to the conference and more. In addition to a free ticket, this year’s winners will enjoy free travel and hotel accommodations, as well as a one year membership to Apple’s Developer Program. WWDC 2018 will be held on June 4th through the 6th in San Jose, California....

Apple’s new under-construction 175 acre campus, now officially named Apple Park, is nearing completion ahead of an expected grand opening next month. The latest look at the site comes today via a drone flyover courtesy of Matthew Roberts (below), which shows progress made on the site in recent weeks including continued work on landscaping, solar installations, and other finishing touches. There are even signs of life at the new campus already with office chairs, tables and other equipment being set up inside…...

The Wall Street Journal reported that Samsung chip designer Jim Mergard has left the South Korean-based company to work for Apple. According to the report, Mergard’s duties before his short stint at Samsung were to lead the development of a “high-profile AMD chip that carried the code name Brazos and was designed for low-end portable computers.” Mergard’s work at Samsung was rumored to be focused on building ARM chips for servers....

While Apple’s AirPort lineup has long been discontinued, the company is still supporting the devices with software updates. AirPort Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule Base Stations have received a new firmware security update today. Apple noted the security update for its 802.11n AirPort Base Stations dating back to 2007 in a new support document. Update: As of right now, iOS 13.7 is only available to developers. We will update this post if that changes today. Initially, iOS 13.7 appeared to be rolling out to all users, but we’ve since confirmed that it is a beta release for now. Apple is releasing iOS 13.7 to developers today with a key focus on expanding the COVID-19 Exposure Notification API. According to Apple, this update will allow users opt-in to COVID-19 Exposure Notifications without the need to download an app from your local public health authority....

A week after seeding developers and public testers with macOS 12.1 beta 4, Apple has released the 12.1 RC ahead of a public launch. Notably, the macOS 12.1 release candidate doesn’t include support for the highly anticipated Universal Control feature. The macOS 12.1 release candidate is appearing now via OTA for developers with build number 21C51.
