Late last year there were rumors that Apple would release their EasyPay point-of-sale system as a commercial product to third parties. Last month Apple’s first customer, Gap Inc’s Old Navy subsidiary began piloting them. We’re told there is one per store and they are kept in a safe when not in use. The two Bay Area companies have had strong ties at the top with Gap’s former CEO Millard Drexler sitting on Apple’s Board since 1999 and Steve Jobs sitting on Gap’s from 1999 to 2002....

Apple today announced a new original to its slate, launching first as a podcast with an Apple TV+ series to follow later in the year. ‘The Line’ follows the true story of formy Navy Seal Eddie Gallagher, who was charged with war crimes after being photographed with a corpse in Iraq. Apple this week has quietly released a new version of its USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter. This $69 adapter includes a USB-C port, HDMI port, and USB-A port, with the new version making several notable improvements. The new version of the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter carries the model number A2119, whereas the old version was model A1621. Apple has also published a new support document detailing the differences between the two....

According to a new report from Gizmodo, Apple plans to continue its slow Latin America expansion with a new store in Argentina. The store comes following Apple’s first Latin American store in Brazil 3 years ago, which was followed by a new store in Mexico City last year. The new store in Argentina is said to be located in Buenos Aires and will open in 2018. Plans for Apple’s expansion to Buenos Aires follows a growing number of authorized resellers in Argentina....

Apple issues its 10-K report with the SEC at the end of every fiscal year and this year’s (via MacRumors, TNW) is full of growth. Numbers grew across the board from the end of fiscal 2010 to 2011: Full time employees went from 49,400 to 60,400. Retail was the bulk of that which went from 25.6K to 36K. Retail Stores up 40: 317 to 357. Ad spending up 35% from $691 million to $933 million....

Two new drone flyover videos today give us an up-to-date look at construction progress at Apple’s Campus 2 site set to become the company’s new Cupertino headquarters early next year. Following his last update in early August, Matthew Roberts just sent over the aerial video below that he shot using a DJI Phantom 3 Professional drone. The September progress update shows what Apple has been up to on the site over the last month including almost completing installation of the exterior canopies and large glass panels— the largest curved glass panels ever created— that cover the entire facade of the structure....

As we enter the busy holiday shopping season, Apple today has shared four new advertisements for the iPhone X on its YouTube channel. These new videos highlight several Face ID features, such as Animoji… Apple seems to be aiming to dispel some common worries about Face ID with these new videos. For instance, one of the videos focuses on using Face ID in the dark, showing how the feature works in the light with “no problem” thanks to the TrueDepth camera sensor and more....

If you like to check out locations before you visit them, or wander down memory lane afterwards, you’ll be able to do so in quite a few new areas of California, as Apple Insider notes significantly expanded flyover coverage in the State. As with the previous expansion of the flyover feature in Paris and surrounding areas of France, the update was a silent one, so it’s possible that other areas have been added too – please let us know if you spot any....

As we detailed a few weeks ago, there’s plenty of evidence to suggest Apple might be planning a spring media event. Now, a report from German iPhone rumors site iPhone-Ticker suggests Apple is planning a special event for the end of March. The report cites sources directly related to Apple and says that the event “will take place at the end of March.” The most likely date suggested by the report is Tuesday, March 31....

Last week, it was reported that Drake’s latest project was streamed 89.9 million times in its first 24 hours of availability on Apple Music, a number that bested Spotify by nearly 30 million despite Spotify’s larger user base. Now, Apple Music executives Jimmy Iovine, Robert Kondrk, and Zane Lowe have sat down with The Verge to offer up more details on Apple’s work with Drake, as well as Beats 1 as a whole....

Apple has officially filed its mandatory response to the court following an order to comply with the FBI’s request to unlock an iPhone used by the San Bernardino shooter from December. Unsurprisingly, Apple has filed a motion to vacate the order which would force it to comply, telling the court that it shouldn’t have to unlock the iPhone using a modified and insecure software version. In the response, Apple has referred to the version of iOS that it would need to create to allow the FBI to unlock the iPhone in question using brute force as a Government Operating System, specifically GovtOS....

Apple has just debuted a revamped version of its website with a focus on all-new product pages. As part of the redesign, the Apple Online Store has been removed from the site’s main navigation bar, with the option to buy each product now available exclusively on the product’s page. The home page remains mostly unchanged, still featuring a scrolling marquee of product promos and four images at the bottom to highlight iOS 9 and some marketing campaigns, but the rest of the site is completely new....

Apple’s US online store today began accepting orders for the unlocked iPhone 4S, priced at $649/$749/$849 for the 16/32/64GB version, making good on its promise to provide the unlocked handset in November. The company advises: An unlocked iPhone 4S is of particular interest to those traveling abroad as they can just pop in a local carrier’s SIM card to avoid paying exorbitant roaming fees. Meanwhile, carrier Sprint today begun SIM-locking all iPhone 4S devices purchased Friday, November 11, 2011 and onwards, SprintFeed noted....

Apple Pay has been slowly making its way across the world, and today it’s officially rolling out in New Zealand. Customers of ANZ are receiving emails now explaining that it is available to them, and readers are able to configure their cards within the Wallet app. This now marks the tenth country where Apple Pay is available, alongside Australia, Canada, China, France, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, UK, and the US....

Apple Pay continues its rollout across the US with a stop in Las Vegas. The Cosmopolitan resort has announced that Apple Pay will be accepted at the hotels’ front desk, restaurants and bars by early June. Room service can also be streamlined using Apple Pay, as the concierge service will also accept Apple Pay as a payment method. This means that you can pay with your iPhone or even your Apple Watch....

The embattled monitor maker Proview, fighting Apple over rights to the iPad name in China, suffered a blow as the Shanghai Pudong New Area People’s Court rejected a preliminary injunction against the sale of the iPad. This means Apple can continue selling iPads in its flagship Shanghai stores without fear (and embarrassment) of sales suspension. The hearings are now postponed, because both companies are awaiting the results of a separate case in the Guangdong provincial high court, the Wall Street Journal reported today....

Apple has a new advertising campaign called ‘They send, you spend’ that highlights the newest Apple Pay features: Apple Pay Cash and Apple Pay in Messages. The campaign includes three micro-ads so far, demonstrating how fast and simple Apple Pay features can be. Apple Pay Cash lets you keep a real cash balance on a virtual debit card in Apple’s Wallet app. You can spend your balance in apps or in stores that accept Apple Pay, or you can transfer your balance to an existing bank account....

Apple today will release the fourth betas of iOS 14 and iPadOS 14 to developers. Today’s release of iOS 14 beta 4 comes two weeks after the release of beta 3, which included new features such as new Clock app widgets, Apple Music changes, and more.
