To complement the iPhone 13 family, Apple has introduced all-new MagSafe cases in fresh Fall colors. The new versions of the silicone and leather cases predictably have updated camera cutouts as well. This means that there are now separate cases for the iPhone 13 and the iPhone 13 Pro, rather than a single interchangeable one. New colors for silicone include chalk pink, marigold, pink pomelo, red, abyss blue, blue jay, midnight, and clover....

Even though Apple’s fight over the San Bernardino iPhone is essentially over, the overall debate regarding encryption versus national security remains. In an effort to continue to beef up security options on consumer devices, Reuters today reports that Apple has rehired well-respected security expert Jon Callas. Apple has just released the first beta version of tvOS 13.4.8 to developers, following the announcement of the first iOS 13.5.5 beta earlier this week, as well as tvOS 13.4.6 public launch. We don’t know the reason Apple skipped tvOS 13.4.7. Compared to tvOS 13.4.6 (17L570), today’s build number is 17M5535f. Apple does not specify what new features are included in tvOS 13.4.8 beta, but it’s likely that the update includes bug fixes and improvements....

Just a few days after the retail launch of the fourth-generation Apple TV set-top-box, Apple has seeded the first beta of the device’s first software update to developers. The new MacBook Air has a blockier design than its predecessor, matching the look of recent iPad models, complete with a larger 13.6-inch screen and spacious keyboard. There’s a MagSafe connector for charging the MacBook (not to be confused with the wireless charging tech in the iPhone), but you can also power the laptop with either of the two USB Type-C ports. Apple announced its new iPad Pro today, with the main improvement being that it’s supercharged with the company’s new M2 processor. Apple claims a 15% improvement in CPU performance compared to the M1, which powered the previous model, as well as a 35% increase in graphics performance thanks to a new 10-core GPU. The addition of an M1 processor on the iPad Pro and the iPad Air allowed for an amazing boost in performance, and an upgrade to the M2 just brings the bar up even higher....

Apple seems to be picking up the pace on its original content efforts as it has now picked up yet another straight-to-series show. As reported by Variety, Apple has now ordered a half-hour dramedy titled “Little Voices” which feature J.J Abrams and Sara Bareilles as executive producers. Apple has ordered 10 episodes for the first season. Jessie Nelson, who’s known for screenwriting I Am Sam, Stepmom and others is in charge of writing, executive producing, and directing the very first episode....

iOS 8 is likely to supercharge the functionality of Apple’s iPad with a new split-screen multitasking feature, according to sources with knowledge of the enhancement in development. These people say that the feature will allow iPad users to run and interact with two iPad applications at once. Up until now, each iPad application either developed by Apple or available on the App Store is only usable individually in a full-screen view....

Apple today released Logic Pro X 10.4.2 alongside MainStage 3.4 on the Mac App Store with a number of new features and enhancements. Head below to see what’s new. Apple has released macOS 10.12.2 beta 3 for Mac. A new report from Music Business Worldwide claims that Apple has recently hired four producers from BBC Radio 1. This report comes two months after it was announced that Zane Lowe was leaving the British radio station to take a new position at Apple. According to today’s report, the recent Apple hires include James Bursey, Natasha Lynch and Kieran Yeates, as well as one other. Bursey was Zane Lowe’s old producer at Radio 1 and has been at the station since 2003....

There’s another display supplier that wants to compete with Samsung and LG for the production of OLED panels for the iPhone 15 Pro, The Elec reports. According to the story, Chinese display giant BOE, which already supplied 6.06-inch OLED panels for lower-tier iPhones, has set a target to manufacture OLED panels for the 2023 iPhone Pro. Currently, Samsung Display is the only supplier for this year’s iPhone 14 Pro and it splits the production of OLED panels with LG Display for the iPhone 14 Pro Max....

Apple employees Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre have been planning an undergraduate academy for entrepreneurs at the University of Southern California for a few years now, and this week the Beats co-founders officially broke ground for the project, ABC reports. Named the “Jimmy Iovine and Andre Young Academy for Arts, Technology and the Business of Innovation,” the 10,000-square foot academy is expected to open fall 2019 with a focus on art and design, engineering and computer science, and business....

TechCrunch claims to have also heard that Apple is planning a late-January event that will focus on its media-related business. The event, first reported this morning, is said to involve Apple’s Senior Vice President of Internet Software and Services Eddy Cue.
