Following the tragic shooting of nine people in Charleston, SC earlier this week, what started as a request for removal of the Confederate flag from South Carolina’s capitol building turned a this nation-wide movement to strip Confederacy symbols from all public places - including parks, buildings, license plates, shopping sites, retail stores, and now the App Store. What games have been removed? So far there, are only a few games removed from the iOS App Store due to the Confederacy images used within the games....

Just a day after the public release of macOS Sierra 10.12.2, Apple has begun rolling out macOS 10.12.3 beta 1 to developers. Sierra 10.12.2 brought in new emoji, wallpapers, graphics & System Integrity Protection fixes, and the removal of the system battery’s estimated ‘time remaining’ feature. This initial seed of macOS Sierra 10.2.3 beta 1 weighs in at 1.04 GB, and is most likely a bug-centric release fix. Apple’s developer center has already posted 10....

Apple this weekend has shared five new Apple Watch how-to videos on YouTube. These videos focus on things like changing your Apple Watch videos, adjusting your Move goal, and more fitness features. Each video comes in at right around 30 seconds in length, covering a specific feature of the Apple Watch. They continue the style used by Apple in other Apple Watch and iPhone tutorial videos. For instance, one video covers how to use Siri on Apple Watch, specifically focusing on using the viral assistant to start a workout....

We’ve been tracking the progress of Apple’s Campus 2 expansion project over several months, and today the city of Cupertino and Apple have shared a new aerial shot of the site showing construction on several new sections of the massive spaceship-like building. Compared to the last official photo shared, the new perspective offers an closer shot of the Campus 2 construction with building construction taking shape on roughly half the circle....

Apple says its new Schoolwork app for iPad is now available for teachers. The app was first announced back in March at Apple’s education event where it introduced the new 9.7-inch iPad with Apple Pencil support. Schoolwork was previously available as a beta app, and now Apple says all teachers will have access: Schoolwork lets teachers create assignments for students using iPads to learn with apps like iBooks, Swift Playgrounds, GeoGabra AR, Kahoot!...

Apple’s new Apple Park campus is officially set to open next month, and ahead of that, the company has recently updated Apple Maps with satellite imagery of the new campus and a proper description. As can see into image above, you get some beautiful 3D imagery of Apple Park in Apple Maps, though not necessarily up to date. Nevertheless, we have some more details and images below… The new Apple Park campus still isn’t always the first result when you type “Apple Park” into Maps, but it is now one of the options....

Reports from local French newspaper Le Dauphiné Libéré (via iPhone.fr) claim Apple has signed contracts to open a new R&D lab in Grenoble, France focusing on imaging technologies. Apple has already had a team of researchers working secretively in the area, according to the reports, but a new 800 square meter R&D lab will allow it to expand to a team of approximately 30 people. Apple is said to have chosen the location due a collaboration with semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics, a supplier of components for various Apple products including past iPhone models and Apple Watch....

Apple has opened a new studio in New York City for its always-on Beats 1 radio station. Fast Company reports that the studio is located in Manhattan’s Union Square, and that artists and hosts will be able to broadcast live from the studio, as well as pre-record shows whenever that happens to be more convenient. The new Manhattan studio joins existing studios in Los Angels and London. Beats 1 shows, specifically those hosted by Ebro Darden, have been broadcast from New York City on a regular basis, but not from a dedicated studio....

Apple on Wednesday announced a new partnership with TAFE Queensland, one of Australia’s most popular training providers and the largest in the state of Queensland. Together, Apple and TAFE will offer development classes using the Swift programming language. To encourage students to obtain programming skills, Apple will provide all the necessary resources for TAFE Queensland to offer training programs for iOS app development using Swift. According to Apple, the program will officially launch in October 2021....

A week after KGI forecast that Apple would sell around 2.5M iPad Pros this quarter (down from far bigger numbers before launch), RBC Capital Markets has predicted a more conservative 1M per month, suggesting around 1.7M units this quarter. The company has also estimated that Apple’s average profit per unit is around $200. Whoever is right, Business Insider notes that even the more cautious forecast puts the iPad Pro on-track to exceed total sales of the Microsoft Surface tablet range within its first three months....

Apple earnings day is upon us, and with it we learn how the company performed since last quarter’s rare guidance revision. Apple forecasted revenue between $55 billion and $59 billion, down from $61.1 billion reported during the same quarter a year ago. So how much money did Apple actually make during the first three months of the calendar year? $58 billion revenue and $11.56 billion profit. Apple no longer reports iPhone, iPad, and Mac unit sales numbers, a shift to reporting announced last year that started last quarter....

Apple CEO Tim Cook made news at February’s shareholders meeting when he shot down a proposal from a representative from the National Center for Public Policy Research that would have required the company to disclose its expenses for its environmental efforts. Cook notably quipped back that “If you want me to do things only for ROI reasons, you should get out of this stock.” Though Apple’s new Mac Pro isn’t exactly readily availably months after its debut, the new machine showcases Apple’s focus on energy consumption as the upgraded model consumes 68% less power in idle mode than its predecessor, according to Apple....

While iOS 8.2 is not even in the hands of consumers yet, Apple has just seeded the first build of the upcoming iOS 8.3 to developers. Apple has not yet disclosed what iOS 8.3 brings to iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches, but we’ll keep you posted. We previously reported that iOS 8.2 will be released in March, before the April release of the Apple Watch. To comply with US sanctions, Apple removed some Iranian apps from its App Store back in 2017 and one of them was Snapp, a popular ride sharing service in the country. However, at some point, the developers snuck it back in the App Store hidden within a music app called RadickRadio… It was discovered this week that while RadickRadio would work as a music service for those in the US and elsewhere when the app was used from an Iranian IP address, it would actually launch Snapp, an Uber-like ride sharing service....

Apple’s first ever Japanese bond sale will raise more than had been previously estimated. An SEC filing reveals that the sale will raise ¥250B ($2B), more than the ¥200 billion ($1.6B) which had been reported earlier. Apple is selling the bonds in Japanese yen due to the extremely low interest rates in the country, with Apple offering a rate of just 0.35%, paid twice a year in June and December. Goldman Sachs, one of the two underwriters of the bond issue, said that the market would welcome the offering....

After a decade, Apple’s Joint Venture support program for small and medium-size businesses appears to be coming to an end. Apple is sending emails to customers about how the program will wrap up, that refunds will be issued, and how a new AppleCare offering will be filling the gap going forward. Apple launched Joint Venture back in 2011 as an IT solution for small and medium-size businesses. The pitch was to help companies “Get Set Up, Get Trained and Stay Running....

Early iPhone 13 sales saw Apple’s market share of the smartphone market climb in both the US and Europe, but growth was reportedly much more dramatic in the latter – where the company came very close to overtaking Xiaomi. iPhone growth was more modest in the US, despite the very favorable timings, but that was of course from a much higher base … We’ve previously explained why the timings flatter Apple’s calendar Q3 sales....

Following reports late last week that Apple is suing its iPhone modem supplier Qualcomm for $1 billion in the US, today Beijing’s Intellectual Property Court said Apple has also filed a similar suit in China seeking 1 billion yuan or over $140 million in damages (via Reuters). In response to the new lawsuit, Qualcomm today issued its own press release and noted that Apple is claiming the company is in violation of China’s Anti-Monopoly Law....
