Apple today released watchOS 7.0.2 for all users. This is the second update for the Apple Watch operating system since the release of watchOS 7 in September. Today’s update promises to fix an excessive battery drain that was affecting some Apple Watch users, as well as bugs related to the ECG app. One of the main features of watchOS 7 is sleep tracking, which lets Apple Watch users check sleep analysis and define a bedtime routine with custom shortcuts....

Following the release iOS 13.4 beta 4 yesterday, Apple today is releasing watchOS 6.2 beta 4 to developers. watchOS 6.2 doesn’t include any major user-facing changes. Instead, the update focuses on performance improvements and under-the-hood bug fixes. Apple doesn’t offer a public beta of watchOS because there is no way to revert back to a previous version if there are bugs. Developers can update to the latest beta of watchOS 6....

One of the most highly-antipcated shows in Apple’s arsenal of original content is a morning show drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Variety reports today, however, that the show has undergone a leadership change due to creative differences… The report explains that Jay Carson had originally been serving as creator and showrunner, but has since parted ways with the unnamed series due to “creative differences.” Replacing Carson as showrunner is Kerry Ehrin, who has worked on shows such as Friday Night Lights, Parenthood, and Bates Motel....

As we previously reported, Apple’s new MacBook Pro lineup is launching as early as next week. Today, we have all the details on the new notebooks and this looks to be a minor refresh with faster processors and more storage (for some models). Apple today has launched a limited-time discount on select Beats products, offering slightly lower prices on the Beats EP headphones, the Beats Pill + speaker, and the urBeats earbuds. While Apple’s discounts are better than nothing, we regularly see even lower prices from other retailers over on 9to5Toys. Next, Apple offers the Beats EP On-Ear Headphones for $99, down from the sticker price of $129.95. In the past, we’ve seen Beats EP for as low as $65, making Apple’s deal considerably less impressive....

From 9to5Toys.com: Unlike most App Store promos, Apple has now quietly kicked off one the largest iOS game/app sales we have seen this year. The news comes courtesy of participating app developer Readdle. The sale includes 100 apps and games at “new low prices”, most of which are $0.99. While we have posted some of these titles over the past week in our daily/game app roundups, this is the first time they’ve all appeared together in one giant sale....

Apple today launched a new program that will allow iPhone 5 owners to have devices with fautly sleep buttons repaired at no cost. Apple says it has identified an issue with some devices that can cause the button to fail on a “small percentage” of these devices. iPhone owners can use a new page on Apple’s support site to determine if their phone is eligible for repair. Unfortunately for these users, the phones won’t be replaced or repaired in-store....

Apple may be left needing to find a new supplier of WiFi chips if a Digitimes report is accurate. The report claims that Broadcom is scaling back its WiFi chip production in favor of more profitable products. As is often the case with Digitimes reports, the report is unclear, the opening stating that Broadcom is ‘looking to phase out its WiFi chip business’ while a quote ascribed to unnamed sources says instead that it plans to ‘significantly reduce resources allocated to its Wi-Fi chip business....

Information from Wikipedia is used in a variety of places throughout the iPhone, iPad, and Mac, and it powers a lot of the data that is fed through the Siri virtual assistant. Currently, there is no financial relationship in place between Wikipedia and Apple for this information, but that could soon change. A new report from Wired today explains that the Wikimedia Foundation, which operates Wikipedia and related projects, has introduced a new commercial project, Wikimedia Enterprise....

It’s looking like Apple chipmaker TSMC is on track for being able to produce 5nm A-Series chips for 2020 iPhones. As one of the major Apple Pay holdouts among retailers, Walmart today officially launched its own digital payment solution called Walmart Pay nationwide. The launch today in 4,600 stores across the US follows an initial launch in 500 stores back in May and subsequent rollouts across additional markets in the months following. The service works through the Walmart app for iOS and Android and allows users to preload credit, debit, pre-paid, and Walmart gift cards for fast payment via a code scanned at checkout....

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, new research from Forrester explores the kind of products Apple could introduce in the next five years. And while the report’s packed-full of speculation, there’s elements within it that may be worth pondering. For example, the researchers believe it’s possible Apple could introduce a range of Mac-enabled digital picture frames. These could, for example, connect to .Mac or other online image galleries to display new images uploaded by friends, or could randomly show images selected from a user’s own iPhoto library....

After Apple launched updated buttons, icons, and more for Sign In with Apple, Apple Health, and Apple Pay for developers last week, the Human Interface Guidelines (HIG) have seen another update with some big changes to the Siri resources of the Developer HIG. As expected, Apple has released OS X Lion on a USB thumb drive via their online store. The $69 thumb drive ships in 1-3 business days and requires 7GB of available storage space. One caveat for users that install OS X Lion via this thumb drive, rather than for $29.99 from the Mac App Store, is that re-installs will need to be conducted via the thumb drive; the internet-based Lion recovery system will not function....

Apple has released the sixth developer and public beta version of iOS 10.2 for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. iOS 10.2 includes several upcoming features like new Unicode 9.0 emoji, three new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus wallpapers, a new TV app, additional camera features, new Messages screen effects, and more. iOS 10.2 will be released to everyone likely sometime this month, and a free public beta program is available for non-developers....

Apple today released yet another build of OS X Yosemite 10.10.3 to both the developer and public beta programs. This version is labeled as 14D127, which is several builds newer than the previous release of 14D113. As always, this new release includes various bug fixes. As we’ve previously highlighted, 10.10.3 will bring a new, more diverse Emojis keyboard to the Mac, improved login for Google services, and APIs for the new Force Touch Trackpad on the new 12-inch MacBook and 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display....

Anil Sethi with his late sister Tania, the inspiration for his new startup Apple’s work in the health industry has been well reported thus far, but CNBC reports today that the person running Apple’s health efforts is leaving the company. Anil Sethi was originally named director of the health team last year, when Apple acquired his medical record startup Gliimpse… Prior to his announcement that he would be leaving Apple, Sethi had been on an extended leave of absence to care for his sister, Tania, who passed away from cancer in September....

Apple has launched the cheaper 16GB version of the iPod touch with a 5 megapixel iSight camera internationally. The new iPod also comes in the same Space Gray, Silver, Pink, Yellow, Blue, and (Product) RED models as the 32GB and 64GB configurations. The new 16GB player first launched in the United States last week, but today marks the first time that the units are available at Apple’s sales channels across the world....
