Apple has just started seeding watchOS 3.1 beta 3 to developers today. Those looking to grab the new release can head over to the Watch app on their iPhones, select General and then Software Update. The watchOS 3.1 beta is available to download as a Configuration Profile from the Apple developer center for newer users looking to test out the upcoming system. While it sounds a bit too early, as several previous leaks pointed to an October launch, the date does aligns with a recent 9to5Mac’s report which saw the event happening in mid-September. The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg also have now corroborated with a few of their own sources and are now claiming that September 9 is indeed when the next iPhones will be unveiled. As for the date, September 9 is an auspicious day for the Cupertino giant....
Earlier this week it was reported that Apple had put a policy in place that would have prevented the company from hiring people who been convicted of felonies within the past seven years to aid in the construction of its new headquarters. According to the original report, fewer than five people had actually been denied jobs because of their criminal backgrounds. Even so, union leaders sent letters to CEO Tim Cook at the beginning of the year asking for the policy to be lifted, but to no avail....

Apple today has announced that Isabel Ge Mahe will be its new vice president and managing director of Greater China. Currently, Mahe is the company’s vice president of Wireless Technologies. Her new role will see her report directly to CEO Tim Cook and COO Jeff Williams. Apple says this “newly created” position aims to help Apple provide leadership to its China-based team, as well as to help it continue to invest and grow in the country....
Apple has updated its general construction schedule for its new Campus 2 site, pushing back its estimated end date for building construction by three months and noting the start of landscaping work expected to last into the second quarter of next year. Apple’s previous construction schedule listed an expected end date for building construction and street utility work as the end of Q3 of this year. The updated schedule extends that three months until the start of 2017....
Sources close to Apple’s manufacturing and supply chain (via DIGITIMES) claim Apple, along with others from the “non-Apple camp”, is prepping to produce devices that include curved glass, specifically touchscreens, in early 2012. The report notes that other companies were expected to use curved cover glass in “attempts to gain a competitive edge” over Apple in the current iPhone and iPad dominated smarpthone and tablet markets. We’ve certainly heard of the company’s plans for curved glass in Apple’s retail stores and their new spaceship campus, but only heard rumors and speculation regarding possible consumer product applications....
Apple has released the first iOS 11.1 beta for developer testing on iPhone and iPad. We’ll update with what changes are included as soon as the new releases are installed on our devices. Features we’ll be watching for include Apple Pay Cash, AirPlay 2, and Messages in iCloud which were all announced but not included in iOS 11.0. As expected, Apple just released iOS 6.1.2 with a fix for the Exchange bug in iOS 6.1 that we previously reported. The 107mb update is available OTA and comes with build number 10B146 .We reported earlier this month that AOL had informed its corporate employees via email that it would temporarily disable the ability to manage meetings with Exchange on iOS devices running iOS 6.1. AOL confirmed it was working with Microsoft and Apple to fix the “continuous loop” bug, and many had highlighted the problem on Microsoft’s forums....

Alongside macOS High Sierra 10.13.3, released today, Apple has also issued Security Update 2018-001 for macOS Sierra and macOS El Capitan. This update also fixes other serious security vulnerabilities, including an issue that could cause an application to run arbitrary code using kernel privileges by exploiting a vulnerability on the IOHIDFamily API. It also patches an issue that could lead to arbitrary code execution when playing a malicious sound file....

Apple has started sending out push notification reminders to users who are eligible to redeem a free year of Apple TV+, but have not yet done so. The notification reads: “Expiring Soon: Your Free of Apple TV+”. Apple is also sending out email alerts in the same vein. As a reminder of the terms of the free Apple TV+ deal, customers must activate the one year free trial within 3 months of activating their newly purchased device....
Apple is releasing a new developer beta of iOS 13.6 today. This follows last week’s release of an iOS 13.5.5 beta to developers and public beta users. Apple is renaming the beta and referring to today’s release as iOS 13.6 beta 2. Re/code reports that Apple will hold its October event, featuring iPads, on October 16th. According to John Paczkowski, the event will feature updates to Apple’s iPad line, OSX 10.10 Yosemite as well as the new Retina iMacs that we reported on earlier this week. Mac mini updates would be nice too. The event will also feature Yosemite, assumedly the OS will be released soon after the event, if Apple follows historic patterns....

Just like the original Rosetta technology, Rosetta 2 lets users run macOS apps from one platform on another — this time translating Intel apps to the ARM architecture of the M1 chip. While I don’t expect Rosetta to go away any time soon, Apple may disable it in some regions as macOS 11.3 beta codes suggest just that. iOS developer Steve Moser just shared on Twitter what he found in the third beta of macOS Big Sur 11....
