Last week, Apple announced that its Q4 2016 earnings call would take place on Thursday, October 27th. Today, however, Apple updated its Investor News webpage to reveal that, due to a “scheduling conflict,” the earnings call and release have been moved up to Tuesday, October 25th. Ohio State University today announced a partnership with Apple that will see the two establish a Digital Flagship University. Apple is today releasing iOS 14.8.1, one day after the company released iOS 15.1, iPadOS 15.1, watchOS 8.1, tvOS 15.1, and macOS Monterey. This update comes just a month after releasing iOS 14.8 for those who didn’t want to update their iPhones to iOS 15. Apple just released iOS 9.3.2 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The update weighs in at around 80 MB, although there are seemingly no new features. The update, as indicated by the version number, includes various bug fixes and security enhancements for iOS. Apple today has released the third beta of watchOS 2 to developers. The company released the second beta of the operating system two weeks ago after officially unveiling it at WWDC at the beginning of last month. Apple’s iAd system has won the scorn of Yahoo CEO, Carol Bartz, who told Reuters last night the ad system will “fall apart for them”. Bartz believes most advertisers will eventually reject Apple’s ad system because the company demands too much control over what advertisers do. “Advertisers are not going to have that type of control over them. Apple has shared a new video on its YouTube channel today promoting the Night mode feature on iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro. In the video, Apple offers side-by-side comparisons of images taken with and without Night mode enabled. Cleverly set to the Smashing Pumpkins song “We Only Come Out At Night,” Apple’s video focuses on the dramatic effect Night mode can have on iPhone photography. Apple this morning announced that its venerable App Store has hit fifteen billion downloads, matching the number of song downloads on the iTunes Store as of last month. The company re-iterated that it has paid developers over $2.5 billion cumulatively since the App Store’s inception. This is after Apple’s standard 30 percent cut, meaning total App Store revenue before the break-down is almost $3.6 billion in aggregate. Apple also said it sold over two hundred million iOS devices (iPhones, iPod touches and iPads)....

With iOS 10, Apple is officially bringing support for lyrics to the Music application. Currently, it’s unclear how Apple is aggregating those lyrics, whether it be from other lyric websites or from record labels and artists directly. Nevertheless, a new job listing discovered by MBW suggests that Apple is looking to expand its team of “lyrics curators” with a new manager. According to the job listing, the manager would work out of Apple’s main campus, working with a team to improve Apple’s lyric offerings....
